Indian States And Capitals List

In India, 29 states and 7 union territories are there in the country, which are further divided into administrative districts. Administrative capital: where all the offices of executive government are located.

Legislative capital: where the state assembly convenes.

Judicial capital: where the state or territorial High Courts of the country are located.

All the states and union territories, Puducherry and the National Capital Territory of Delhi have government and legislatures of elected form. Chief Ministers is the head of the government and legislatures. General public elect the Chief Ministers for the five years. On other five union territories (Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and Lakshadweep) are ruled by the central government directly.
